ADAS calibration

Your safety systems only work if they are aimed correctly

Advanced driver assistance systems read the road through a camera mounted to your windshield. Replace the glass and that camera has to be recalibrated before the systems can be trusted again.

Why it matters

A millimeter at the glass is meters down the road

The forward camera behind your windshield controls lane keep assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Its bracket sits on the glass, so a new windshield moves it. A small angular error at the camera becomes a large error at the distance where the car has to decide whether to brake in time.

Manufacturers require calibration after windshield replacement. Insurance carriers pay for it. Skipping it leaves the car making decisions on bad information, and it leaves you holding that risk.

Two procedures

Static, dynamic, or both

Which one your vehicle needs is set by the manufacturer, not by us. We follow the service procedure for your exact year, make and model.

Static calibration

Targets are set at measured distances and heights in front of the vehicle on a level surface. The camera is taught its reference points against those targets. This needs space, even ground and controlled light, so we plan the location with you in advance.

Dynamic calibration

The scan tool runs the procedure while the vehicle is driven at a set speed on a road with clear lane markings. We use routes that hold a steady speed, which matters on mountain roads.

Both on one vehicle

Plenty of models want the static procedure first and a road test drive to finish. We budget the time for both rather than stopping halfway and calling it done.

Systems we calibrate

What is riding on that camera

Lane departure warning Lane keeping assist Automatic emergency braking Forward collision warning Adaptive cruise control Traffic sign recognition cross pedestrian warning Rain and light sensors Heads up Display

Equipment

Autel calibration frames and targets with manufacturer specific procedures, plus a scan tool that reads and clears the modules involved.

Documentation

Pre scan before we touch the glass, post scan after calibration, and a emailed report with the result. Carriers ask for it and you should keep a copy.

Technicians

Trained specifically on ADAS calibration procedures. The same person who sets your glass finishes the calibration.

What we need on site

Help us get it right the first time

A level surface, ideally concrete or smooth asphalt

Around ten feet of clear space in front of the vehicle and three feet on each side

Tires at the correct pressure and the fuel tank not close to empty, since ride height affects aim

The cargo area reasonably clear, for the same reason

Shade or even light where we can find it, since bright glare interferes with target reading

If your site will not work, we will say so when you book and suggest somewhere nearby that will.

Calibrated today. Confident tomorrow.

Every calibration ends the same way: codes cleared, systems confirmed active, report in your inbox.
